Overview Title: Assistant Professor/Costume Designer Application Review Date: 11/16/2025 Campus Location: Radford City - Main Campus Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor employment visas at this time. Job Description Duties include, but are not limited to: teaching design/technical theatre classes, theatre appreciation, makeup, advanced makeup, basic sewing for stagecraft class, supervision of the shop manager and work-study students, as well as designing costumes and mentoring student designers for departmental productions. Responsibilities Design and teach courses related to costume design, makeup, and stagecraft; mentor student designers for departmental productions; supervise the shop manager and work-study students. Required Qualifications Terminal degree/MFA in Costume Design or an MFA in Design with an emphasis on Costume Design. Proven experience in undergraduate teaching, costume construction (including period construction), makeup, wig/hair, and wardrobe. Preferred Qualifications Additional expertise in other areas of theatre/entertainment design. Experience in mentoring student designers. Knowledge of online course delivery is desired.
