Automotive Controller Position

Large South Jersey Auto Dealer has an opportunity for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include the following in a multi-rooftop environment:

· Manage the financial close process, ensuring compliance with established timelines, including weekly and month-end closures for various accounts and daily cash flow reviews.

· Maintain and protect the general ledger within our DMS system.

· Maintain effective cash management system, including daily review and discussion of cash flows and proposed cash uses for each entity.

· Manage, train and mentor the Team Leads and accounting staff, ensuring daily oversight and accountability.

· Implement and lead staff training and development.

· Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines and within each manufacturer’s format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection and co-op advertising are current and accurate.

· Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs Dealer and GMs of developing trends.

· Provides department managers with detailed financial and management reports.

· Reviews the general ledger and schedule accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.

· Ensures compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records, etc.

· Coordinates and prepares for annual accounting review audit.

· Ensure that all accounting schedules are reviewed and properly maintained on a monthly basis.

· Meet with company managers on a weekly basis to review expenses, processing issues, status of outstanding contracts, vehicle receivables, accounts receivables, rebate/incentive receivables, etc.

Summary

Reports the financial condition of the total dealership to the Dealer/General Manager regularly and accurately. Provides sales and expense analyses summarizing potential problem areas and opportunities for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts. (Administrative/General)

Essential Duties

· Directs assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.

· Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable and floor plan payable.

· Stays abreast of tax code revisions and advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.

· Manages the dealership computer system to maximize utilization.

· Administers a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.

· Meets with dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals.

· Purchases property and liability insurance.

· Prepares and processes all insurance claims.

· Maintains professional appearance.

· Other tasks as assigned.

Automotive Accounting Experience Required: 

5-8 years of prior leadership experience. Excellent communication skills and organization is necessary.
