Job Title: Construction Estimator
Job Description
Join a leading construction company as a skilled and driven Estimator. You will play a crucial role in guiding projects from initial concept to final buyout. Your responsibilities include developing project budgets, overseeing key preconstruction milestones, assessing subcontractor scopes, and collaborating with clients and design teams to deliver cost-effective and buildable solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead and support all aspects of preconstruction and estimating across multiple active projects, including construction schedule development, logistics planning, bid strategy, quantity takeoffs, constructability reviews, subcontractor/vendor pricing analysis, and presentations to clients.
Develop detailed, accurate, and complete estimates that align with project goals.
Prepare scope narratives and organize bid packages, clearly communicating scope, strategy, and assumptions to internal partners, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Analyze bid results and make well-informed recommendations for subcontractor and vendor awards.
Maintain and manage the preconstruction project files to ensure a smooth handoff to project operations and enable a successful project launch.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
At least five years of industry-related estimating experience, preferably at a general contractor.
Creative and results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a flexible, collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with estimation, construction, commercial construction, construction takeoff, quantity takeoffs, bid strategy, constructability reviews, bidding, and document review.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, and cost analysis techniques.
Experience working on multi-family or sr living projects.
Work Environment
This is a salaried role primarily based in the office located in Bloomfield Hills, with occasional fieldwork for onsite walkthroughs early in the process. The work environment includes a modern office space where each employee has their own cubicle, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. The role involves building a niche book of business in the multi-family and semi-commercial project space, providing job security with funded housing projects. The current team consists of four estimators.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
