You’ll know your customers and their typical freight loads, allowing you to operate smoothly without unexpected shipments.

• Competitive pay:
  • Average earnings of $1,550 per week or $74,000 annually
  • Starting pay at 62 cpm
  • Typical weekly mileage of 2,500 miles
  • Averaging around 40 hours per week
  • Detention, breakdown, and layover pay where applicable
  • Company-sponsored per diem program
• Home weekends with a Monday - Friday schedule
• All drop and hook operations
• Weekly run to Ontario, Canada, and to either Michigan, Kentucky, or South Carolina
• Delivery through the Customs port of entry in Detroit, MI, and Windsor, Canada
• Delivery location is three hours into Canada after crossing the border
• Passport required for border crossing
• 0600 pickup from Birmingham, AL, with a layover in Ohio before crossing the border the next morning
• Drop/hook at the supplier; you will fax/scan shipping documents to the Averitt dispatcher who will facilitate customs clearance
• After clearing customs, an entry barcode will be sent to you for border crossing
• Another layover in Michigan or Ohio before returning to Birmingham for your next run

Qualifications:

• Must reside within a 100-mile radius
• Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years
• Aged 21 or older
• Possess a valid Class A CDL
• Passport necessary for border crossings
• No reckless driving convictions in the last 5 years
• No DUI convictions in the last 5 years
• No suspensions or revocations in the last 5 years
• No serious violations in the previous 12 months (e.g., 15 mph or greater over speed limit)
• No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
• No preventable DOT recordable accidents in the past 3 years

Essential Functions:

• Opening and closing trailer doors (46 lbs force required)
• Counting freight
• Completing fuel tickets
• Obtaining sales leads
• Hooking and unhooking trailers (90 lbs force required)
• Performing pre-trip inspections
• Driving safely and responsibly
• Maintaining regular attendance
• Entering/exiting a commercial motor vehicle
• Accessing the rear of a trailer from ground level
