Certified Nursing Assistant Faculty Member

The full-time 9-month Certified Nursing Assistant faculty member reporting to the Director of Secondary Career and Technical Education and is under the Secondary Career Center. This position facilitates high school students through effective instruction, curriculum development, and assessment. This Position is responsible for delivering high-quality education within assigned courses, supporting student success, and maintaining program standards. This position will be used to teach at the two Secondary Career Center locations.

Essential Duties:

• Facilitates student learning, provides effective instruction and performs evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes, using each course's standard course outline as a guide.
• Obtains the approved paperwork for the Nursing Training Assistant Program (NATP) and maintains student files as required by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care (OLTC).
• Sustains memorandums of understanding for clinical sites required by Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Patient Care Assistant (PCA+) courses and assists with scheduling.
• Completes all paperwork required to have Headmaster testing on-site for state licenser.
• Works with other faculty and administrators in developing program curriculum, standards, and policies, including reviewing and participating in textbook selection process where appropriate.
• Assign grades, maintains course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations, and submit grade and records by established deadlines.
• Schedules, supervises, debriefs, and evaluates students in clinical, internship, observation, and field experience, and similar setting as appropriated for the course or program.
• Serves students via email, phone, or personal conferences. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly communicated to supervisors and to students through the course syllabus each semester.
• Meets all classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meeting at the designated times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Rate of pay: determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in related field
• Minimum of two years of teaching or professional experience in the related field

Required License/Certifications:

• Registered Nurse with and active license and two (2) years nursing experience including at least 1 year of long-term care nursing experience in the last ten (10) years

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in discipline or related field
• Teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong communication and collaborations skills
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction
• Flexibility to adapt to diverse learning environments and schedules
• Ability to design engaging instructional materials and assessments
• Knowledge of FERPA and academic integrity standards
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Experience with learning management systems (e.g. Canvas)
• Knowledge of competency-based or experiential learning models

The work environment typically consists of a professional office setting with a moderate noise level, including sounds from conversations, office equipment, and occasional movement of staff. Lighting is standard for office spaces, and the temperature is controlled to remain within a comfortable range. Employees may occasionally need to visit other areas, such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations, where environmental conditions may vary. Infrequently, exposure to louder noise levels or physical activities, such as moving lightweight materials, might be required.
