The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. The Life Skills Coach position involves implementing guidelines and procedures established for homeless students by working cooperatively with the project manager, schools, and shelter sites. Responsibilities include assessing and implementing academic instruction and interventions in reading, language arts, and math, providing direct instruction and guidance to ensure homeless students (Kindergarten-Grade 8) attend and succeed academically, coordinating supplemental activities for homeless students and their families, attending Project ACT activities and CMSD staff development workshops, maintaining accurate records and reports, and possibly working at non-traditional settings or schools. Knowledge of the McKinney-Vento Act is required. Qualifications include a college degree in Education, Psychology, or related field, experience working with children in urban settings and homeless children and families, familiarity with CMSD policies and community settings, ability to work in diverse and non-traditional settings, willingness to work varied schedules and travel between sites, and computer literacy. The position is a 10-month contract (205 days) with compensation ranging from $45,900 to $64,260. The role reports to the Director of Compensatory Education and is non-exempt.
