Sr. Data Product Manager role at New Balance .

New Balance is building an enterprise data product and platform organization to support business growth, data maturity and manage the data ecosystem. The Senior Product Manager, Data Product will play a pivotal role in bringing data products to life, building the data product team structure and deploying data products to market. This role operates at both strategic and tactical levels, including generating innovative growth ideas, establishing OKRs, leading through change management, and leading data product development and agile work. The position is based in Boston with a hybrid schedule (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the office). Travel is expected to be 20% and collaborating across multiple time zones is required.

Major Accountabilities

  • Team Management: Manage a team of Data Product Owners; develop an organizational plan, support development and ensure alignment with Digital Product and Data & Analytics leaders.
  • Product Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive data product strategy, manage the data product lifecycle, and align with business goals and market needs.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Gathering: Work with analytics teams and other stakeholders to understand requirements, gather feedback, and ensure data products meet needs.
  • Product Development: Lead end-to-end product development lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality standards.
  • Data Integration: Oversee integration of data sources and ensure data flow and accessibility for analytics teams.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor product performance, analyze key metrics, and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, agile project management, product operations, stakeholders and other digital product teams.
  • Data Management & Compliance: Ensure data products adhere to regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry best practices (privacy, security, financial reporting standards). Roadmap management: Define and manage the product roadmap, prioritizing features based on stakeholder feedback and business objectives.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive product documentation, including specifications, user guides and training materials.
  • Change Management: Drive change management for data product technology transformations, ensuring smooth adoption by end-users and stakeholders.

Requirements for Success

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years as a Product Manager, with at least 4+ years in a data product role in a global organization; experience leading teams required.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of data analytics, data integration, and data visualization; excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data management platforms, SQL, and related technologies.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams toward a common goal.
  • Problem-solving: Strategic and creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Agile: Solid understanding of Agile principles and methodologies.
  • Outcome Orientation: Focus on delivering outcomes that positively impact key business metrics.
