Purpose:

We're seeking an experienced WordPress developer to support our growing team at Ferocious Media. As part of our development team, you’ll be responsible for building fast, modern, and responsive websites for home service-based businesses across the U.S. This role requires someone who is resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to troubleshoot using documentation and online tools. Strong communication and a sense of urgency are a must.

As a remote position, you should be comfortable working independently, staying organized, and effectively communicating with the team virtually.

Key Functional Area or Responsibility:

• Build and maintain WordPress sites using custom themes, ACF, and CPTs

• Use page builders like Cornerstone or similar tools to create responsive layouts

• Translate Figma wireframes into fully responsive, production-ready websites

• Debug and resolve cross-browser and responsive design issues

• Set up and configure SMTP email delivery and basic Cloudflare security

• Manage performance optimization, caching, and uptime on platforms like WP Engine or WPMU DEV

• Communicate with our team via Slack and ClickUp (or similar task systems)

Requirements:

• Expert-level WordPress development (custom themes, ACF, CPTs, plugins)

• Strong HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP fundamentals

• Experience with Cornerstone or other visual builders

• Proficient in responsive design and mobile-first development

• Ability to troubleshoot and implement fixes quickly

• Basic understanding of SEO best practices and schema markup

• Clear written communication and documentation skills

• Comfortable working in a remote environment, managing your schedule, and maintaining strong communication with a virtual team

Qualifications/Skills:

The following are desired but not necessarily required skills:

• Experience working with the WordPress REST API and Google APIs

• Familiarity with Cloudflare DNS, firewall, and SSL settings
