Mercer Medicine is searching for a Certified Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant for the Macon, Georgia clinic. The candidate in this position is expected to demonstrate the ability to multi-task by working with multiple patients, handling multiple phone calls to include appointment related calls, refills, referrals and authorizations. Display flexibility by working with different positions and in different departments as required. Responsible for EMR documentation, patient work up to include vitals, updating patient information and patient education. This candidate is expected to perform all other assigned task within the scope of their certification. Qualifications include a high school diploma/GED and at least six months of healthcare experience. Candidates for the Certified Medical Assistant position must have a current national CMA certification. Phlebotomy experience is required for CMAs but preferred for MAs. CPR certification must be earned within 6 months of start date; candidates with current CPR certification are preferred. Candidates must know how to use a computer for patient check-in/out, posting payments, and scanning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, and experience with electronic medical record systems (preferably EMD and/or Athena) are required. Additional skills include ability to multi-task with office functions, operate basic office equipment, customer service skills, oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret and apply physician protocols, and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
