About the Role

Were looking for a Civil Construction Foreman that will lead, direct, and alongside project trades and labor crews to execute bridge and complex concrete structure construction. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and precise delivery of heavy civil tasks such as grade control, formwork, rebar placement, structural pours, and critical lifts. The Heavy Civil Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for driving quality, safety, and productivity in challenging civil infrastructure projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and mentor crews in the execution of bridge-building and concrete structure activities, ensuring quality craftsmanship and adherence to design specifications.
    • Provide coaching, training, and daily direction to labor and trades personnel to maximize performance and productivity.
    • Promote a strong crew culture that prioritizes teamwork, accountability, and safety.
  • Project Execution
    • Direct and coordinate daily operations on bridge and heavy civil projects, including grade control, excavation, sub-base installation, and embankment activities.
    • Oversee formwork installation, rebar placement, and preparation for large structural pours.
    • Supervise the placement, finishing, and curing of concrete in piers, abutments, decks, and other structural elements.
    • Ensure execution of critical lifts, including rigging and crane operations, in compliance with safety and engineering requirements.
  • Safety and Quality Oversight
    • Champion adherence to the companys safety program and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and project-specific safety standards.
    • Identify, correct, and report unsafe behaviors, hazardous conditions, and potential risks in bridge and concrete structure work.
    • Inspect formwork, rebar, and finished concrete for quality and alignment with specifications.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and production records.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
    • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and superintendents to ensure heavy civil activities align with schedule and budget goals.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to maintain smooth workflow and timely delivery of materials and equipment.
    • Support and drive utilization of construction technologies, including B2W, Procore, and digital reporting systems.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Carpentry or Civil Trade School Certificate preferred.
  • 5+ years of direct bridge and heavy civil construction experience.
  • Proficiency with construction software such as B2W and Procore is a plus.
  • Hands-on expertise in bridge-building activities, including grade control, excavation, embankments, formwork, rebar installation, large-scale pours, finishing, and critical lifts.
  • Experience with DOT specifications, structural concrete work, and quality control requirements for bridges and civil infrastructure.
  • Willingness to travel as required for projects.
