This position is ideal for someone who enjoys providing comprehensive care for growing smiles. An orthodontic and pediatric assistant's priority is safe and excellent patient care. This job requires an outgoing, energetic personality. You determine the patient's overall experience in our office. Your job requires attention to detail and accuracy. You are executing the treatment plan provided by the doctor. It is crucial that you listen to your leadership/doctor's directions, perform the procedure correctly and efficiently, and accurately document the patient's chart.

We serve a diverse patient base, combining pediatric dentistry with orthodontic treatments in a fee for service office. You will be working alongside a skilled team of dental professionals in a supportive and innovative setting.

Duties: The orthodontic and pediatric assistant is responsible for assisting the orthodontist and pediatric dentists in the clinical treatment of patients. They are also responsible for the cleanliness of the clinical area, sterilization of instruments, and stocking of all clinical supplies, as well as regularly cleaning and maintaining the equipment.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Greet/welcome patient families, make them feel welcome and comfortable throughout their visit.
  • Conduct any patient interaction whether in person or via practice management software according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough review of patient's health history at every visit, alert dentist and notate changes/concerns properly.
  • Take and process digital radiographs and other diagnostics (iTero scanner, digital photography).
  • Provide excellent chairside assistance to support dentists during wide variety of procedures.
  • Anticipate dentists needs at all times.
  • Utilize practice management software (Dentrix Ascend, Dolphin) for patient notes/records, treatment planning, scheduling, accurate treatment routes for front office.
  • Prepare patient rooms/units before and after procedures with proper setups/cleanup and with strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA/CDC recommendations.
  • Have proper instrument/materials prepared according to procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper instruments and materials to assist with safe/successful treatment visits.
  • Exhibit enthusiastic and positive, team-player attitude at all times.


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Orthodontic Experience 1 year or General/Pediatric 1 year.
  • Experience with Dentrix Ascend or Dolphin.


Skills/Abilities:

  • Good interpersonal skills to develop an effective relationship with patients, parents, doctors, and team members.
  • Typing skills for entries into patient charts.
  • Effective verbal skills to communicate with and educate patients and parents to treatment.


Job Type: Full Time

Salary: $20-24 hourly $1500 sign on bonus for Ortho Experience.
