Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Technical Training, the position oversees and supports power-generation based training programs in the region. The Regional Training Specialist works closely with assigned facilities operations and maintenance management personnel to own and lead the training and competency assurance through direct field-training and qualification support, as well as training program development and maintenance. This role supports continuous improvement through employee growth and development. Responsibilities include managing a competency management system for assigned facilities operation and maintenance teams, keeping facility managers and the technical training director informed of training and competency development, managing the learning management system (LMS), and coordinating state-specific training programs such as ASME certification and state licenses. The specialist leads technical training for operation and maintenance employees, evaluates technical competency, develops individual development plans, designs and delivers training materials, manages apprenticeship and entry-level training programs, maintains training and qualification status matrices, participates in qualification status update calls, develops relationships with facility management, schedules training sessions, assists with ASME-QRO certification data upkeep, collaborates with safety and other teams to ensure training completion, assesses program effectiveness, and attends weekly status update calls. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Technical Training. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of technical training development and/or competency management experience, preferably in Waste-to-Energy, Power Generation, or Chemical Industries. A bachelor's degree in education, a supporting technical certification, Maritime academy degree, or related military experience may substitute for training experience. ASME/QRO Certification is preferred or must be achieved within 12 months of hire. Skills needed include excellent presentation and communication skills, proficiency in learning/training management, strong organizational and leadership abilities, positive team focus, self-direction, and PC skills including MS Office and Learning Management Systems. The position requires 50-70% travel across the region and is facility-based with typical hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility for outages or upsets.
