The ideal candidate will have experience in digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and working knowledge of simulation frameworks such as AFSIM and Coliseum. Why Work with us? Responsibilities include: Model Enrichment for Simulation Integration Collaborate with systems engineers and simulation developers to enrich SysMLv2 models with necessary metadata, schemas, and structured data elements to enable integration with MS&A tools, particularly AFSIM and Coliseum. Define, document, and apply modeling patterns and standards that support traceability and fidelity required for simulation use cases. Tool Development for Model Export Lead the development of a SysMLv2-based utility or plugin that supports the export of model data into simulation-compatible formats, specifically targeting frameworks such as AFSIM and Coliseum. Work with MBSE and simulation tool stakeholders to define export schemas, intermediate representations, and transformation rules. Framework Integration Support Provide technical support for integrating enriched SysMLv2 models with additional external frameworks, tools, or simulation environments. Facilitate interface definitions and data exchange standards to promote interoperability and reuse of model content across diverse platforms. Other duties as assigned Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements: Required: Must be a US citizen Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; Master's preferred 3+ years of experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) with hands-on experience using SysML (preferably SysMLv2). Experience with at least one modeling tool supporting SysMLv2 (e.g., MBSE tools in development or pilot use). Familiarity with Department of Defense simulation frameworks such as AFSIM and/or Coliseum. Experience in data modeling, schema development, or tool integration. Proficient in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, or similar) used in tool development or automation. Desired: Experience with digital thread/digital twin initiatives in defense or aerospace contexts. Knowledge of systems architecture, mission engineering, or enterprise-level modeling. Familiarity with government acquisition processes or standards such as DoDAF, UAF, or MIL-STD-881. Understanding of XML, JSON, or other structured data formats and their application in model transformation. All positions at Applied Research Solutions are subject to background investigations.
