Reports To: Executive Director
The Durham Business and Professional Chain is seeking a skilled and passionate Business Coach to support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners through coaching, business planning, and resource development. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven team working to create economic opportunities in underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Assistance & Coaching
Deliver one-on-one and group coaching sessions focused on operational setup, business development, and scaling strategies.
Assist startups in crafting business plans, securing funding, and navigating regulations.
Support existing businesses with market analysis, capacity building, and scaling strategies.
Business Planning & Strategy
Guide clients in developing business models, value propositions, and strategic plans.
Provide advice on financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Help clients identify growth opportunities and develop actionable plans.
Market & Industry Analysis
Conduct market research to understand trends, customer needs, and competition.
Provide insights on pricing models, product development, and market entry strategies.
Assist in marketing and sales strategy development to support business growth.
Resource Development & Networking
Maintain a database of business resources, templates, and tools.
Connect clients with investors, partners, and experts.
Plan and host networking events, workshops, and seminars.
Program Support & Reporting
Collaborate with program staff to ensure alignment with goals.
Keep accurate records of coaching sessions, client progress, and outcomes.
Prepare impact reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
3–5 years in business development, entrepreneurship, or coaching.
Experience with startups or consulting preferred.
Proven success in business operations and growth strategies.
Strong coaching and mentoring skills; ability to inspire and motivate.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with financial modeling and fundraising a plus.
Other Requirements
Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed.
Occasional travel for meetings and events.
